Kyff, Jr.‘s article “Nudist Suit Dissolves,” alongside the “Readers’ Forum” letters. Written from inside the nudist movement, the article confirms that The Naturist Society dropped its appeal in the Cape Cod shirtfree case on October 7, 1988, “reluctantly reacting to pressure from Nikki Craft — a named appellant plaintiff and former Naturist Society employee,” and records her termination by Lee Baxandall. It is also the origin point of the caricature used against Craft for decades — “the volatile and outspoken Ms. Craft,” who “seemingly abruptly changed her mind” — with her actual reasons presented only as filtered through Baxandall.
